Giving, once again?

Wait, Ms. Savvy Saver! Before dashing out to join the hordes of pre-dawn ‘doorbuster’ shoppers or clicking into the black Friday online price wars, you may be able to cross a few items off your holiday gift list before leaving home. Start by digging through some of your unloved or unused items and consider…. regifting! You may be sitting on an unwanted glittery gold mine that someone else may treasure. Of course this recycling concept isn’t new however, there’s a right way to do everything!

Mindful etiquette to use as you tactfully give as eloquently as you’ve preciously received:

Regifting Rules

Always…

• Recycle gifts that are new or never been opened.
• Recycle gifts that are appropriate and will be appreciated by the recipient.
• Recycle gifts where the original giver and new recipient are socially unrelated.
• Regift items such as wine, books, vase, ornaments or new household items.
• Regift items should be rewrapped for a fresh presentation.

Never-ever...

• Don’t regift items that are not in the original packaging.
• Don’t regift anything that is severely dated, unless vintage inspired or an heirloom.
• Don’t regift items that are gently used, no matter how gentle.
• Don’t forget to remove the lovely note/card from the original gift giver.
• Don’t regift items that one-of-a-kind, monogrammed or handmade item.

With a spirit of thanksgiving, partake in the reduce, reuse, recycle, regift strategy and celebrate on National Regifting Day December 17th. Surely you’ll increase your saving and shall have done your fair, SHARE this holiday season!

Happy Holidays!
