The latest hair trend says less is really…less

When it comes to women and hair the statement “more is more” typically applies, which is why a woman with naturally long locks can always spy envious glances and why the invention of extensions was akin to the discovery of electricity.

So the latest buzz…the buzz cut is giving us quite a shock! With some famous faces and trendsetting fashionistas such as Solange Knowles, and model Amber Rose deciding to take it all off, some women are questioning if they could be so bold as to go bald? Whether it’s freedom from societal beauty standards or your flat iron that makes this look appealing, here are a few must considers before going off the top:

• Size Matters- The size of your head that is. Smaller head and smaller features seem to pull off bald best. E.T.’s cute but not a fashion icon.

• Don’t be Rash- Your scalp is skin and regular shaves could cause unsightly razor burns. Use products that moisturize, preferably with sun-screen and truly sensitive types may want to leave some hair on.

• New Growth- Hair won’t grow back automatically once the trend fades. Be prepared to stick it out…and to spend lots on warm winter hats.

The short of it is … this is one bald statement that no one will miss!
