HANDY
HOLIDAY
November 14, 2008
Plan to enjoy your Thanksgiving Day!
No doubt, many of you are bound to become the Thanksgiving hostesses with the mostest. Although the clock is ticking, don't panic--plan ahead! If you're trying to re-create those happy holiday scenes in which smiling family members sit around the dinner table passing the turkey and all the trimmings, then roll up your sleeves and get started now!
Here are a few tips to help you enjoy turkey day and be thankful in the process!
-
Forget cooking! Ordering in your entire meal or even just a part of it could be the way to go. Check with your local grocer or look to sites like Impromptu Gourmet to preorder your menu and have it delivered within three to seven days, packaged in dry ice.
-
Maid to order! If you're tackling all of the family's favorite dishes, then don't sign on to do the cleanup too. Stash some cash to hire a cleaning service that can bust those suds while you work on the leftovers.
-
Better to give! The best way to keep the spirit of the holiday is to give to those in need. After you've enjoyed your meal--or, to work up an appetite, before you sit down to turkey dinner--why not grab your family and serve other people? (You can also donate food to a soup kitchen.) Contact your local house of worship or Salvation Army, or check your neighborhood newspaper, for volunteering opportunities. You can make the holidays just a little sweeter for families who need a helping hand.
Gobble, gobble!
